The Artist's Way - Julia Cameron

This is not a new book, but it as excellent book to help you find yourself, get to know what is really on your mind, and open up new ways of looking at the world. It comes out of Julia Cameron's work with "blocked creatives."

A Time of Our Own: In Celebration of Women over Sixty - Elinor Miller Greenberg and Fay Wadsworth Whitney

I like reading books about this time of my life by women like myself. Here is an excellent, readable book that has plenty of stories AND a dose of statistics to back up what they heard.

Thinkertoys - Michael Michalko

A terrific book for myriad creative ways of looking at a problem - work or personal. Not to be read straight through, but to be read first to find what ideas speak to you. It is a handbook or encyclopedia of creative thinking

Strengths Finder 2.0 - Tom Rath

This book comes with a unique code to take an online assessment of 177 multiple choice questions to find your personal strengths. This is very useful information as you are exploring the next phase of your life. I found the assessment and the explanations to be accurate.

For My Next Act - Karen Barr

An interesting exploration of life's changes and choices for Women of a Certain Age. The impetus for the book was Karen's divorce, but it is not a traditional "post divorce" book. The stories of 36 women weave through the text and remind us of the possibilities that await if we but take the first step.
